Machher Jhol (Fish Gravy)

Ingredients:

Rohu fish

Mustard paste half tbsp

Ginger, garlic and green chili paste

Tomato puree

Turmeric powder

Dry coriander powder half tbsp

Garam masala half tbsp

Red chili powder half tbsp

Coriander leaves

Spring onion leaves

Fish curry powder

Salt (As per taste)

Lemon juice

Oil

Preparations:

Step 1

Wash the fish properly

Step 2

Add half tbsp of turmeric powder, pinch of salt, pinch of red chili powder. half tbsp of lemon juice to the fish.

Mix well and leave the fish for marination for half an hour.

After the fish gets marinated, deep fry them and keep it aside.

Step 3

Take a kadhaai, heat oil

Step 4

Add dry red chili, ginger garlic, green chili paste, onion paste and cook until the colour turns golden brown.

Step 5

Add half tbsp mustard paste, red chili powder, garam masala, dry coriander powder and turmeric powder to the kadhai, cook for 5 minutes

Step 6

Add tomato puree and cook again for 5 minutes

Step 7

Add half tbsp of fish curry powder diluted in water to the gravy and cook on a low flame.

Add half bowl of water and salt (As per taste)

Add fried fish to the kadhaai .

Add chopped coriander leaves, spring onion leaves and half tbsp of lemon juice to the kadhaai

Step 11

On a high flame cook the gravy for ten minutes and then turn the stove off.

Fish gravy is ready, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
