Dal makhani is one of the most popular dal recipe of India along with dal tadka and dal fry.
It is prepared using Whole black gram and red kidney beans with fresh cream toppings on it. It is a very delicious dal and highly suitable with Roti and Naan.
Note: The quantity of ingredients used will depend upon the quantity of Dal you are using. You can do it as per your judgement.
- Whole black gram (Sabut Urad dal)
- Red Kidney Beans (Rajma)
- Ginger Garlic Paste
- Grinded Green chili
- Red Chili powder half tbsp
- Fresh cream
- Chopped onion, one medium sized
- Tomato (Chopped/ Grated)
- Cumin Seeds
- Half tbsp Garam Masala
- Grated Cheese(Optional)
- Salt as per taste
- Coriander leaves for garnishing.
Soak Dal and Rajma overnight for atleast 8 hours
Boil soaked Rajma and Dal, the next day in Cooker upto 12 whistles.
Take a Kadhaai, heat butter
Add Cumin seeds, let it crackle, then add ginger garlic, green chili paste,chopped onion,half tbsp garam masala and red chili powder. Cook until the color turns golden brown . Then add Chopped/Grinded Tomato.
Add half small bowl of fresh cream.
Add boiled Rajma and dal to the Kadhaai.
Keep on stirring as well as try to make it a smooth texture as shown in the picture below.
Add water as per the desired consistency and salt as per taste ( You can also add half tbsp sugar if you want to have a little sweet taste).
Cook for 10 minutes on a low flame and then turn the stove off.
Dal Makhni is ready.
Garnish with grated cheese,Fresh cream, butter and coriander leaves.
Serve hot with Butter Roti.
